Francis is also supposed to the "placating pope", after his predecessor's untimely (and historically significant) "retirement.

He was the first pope from the Western Hemisphere, the first from South America (Argentina) , and the first from the Jesuit order.

Must have been slim pickings at the vatican that year.

It doesn't seem to matter how ignored you are . . .

That's really funny. If that were true, you wouldn't be here. That's what happens when you don't think things through before making a contradictory statement.

Anyway, whatever it is you can't live with anymore, the question for you to ponder is: What are you going to do about it?

Anyway again, This is funny. If it were Trump who couldn't keep his nose out of girls' hair and his hands off them, you would be asking me how I could possibly deny his obvious problem with young girls; except of course you'd be using names like sleaze, pervert, pedophile, creep, etc., But, being a supporter of the other political part, you're obligated to see that kind of stuff in a new light--a better light . . .

@Glennn,
Well if truth be told, we are all absolutely fascinated with you Glennn. We can't ignore you because of so many important reasons. First of all, you are so much smarter...... you see and hear the same things the rest of us do, but you are the only one who actually understands the lunacy. Secondly, you never shy away from beating everyone else over the head about their stupid thoughts and outright lie believing...... you avoid all that assiduously because only you understand/decipher the outright lunacy and deceit that the rest of us are too dim to comprehend or those few who misunderstand the outright dishonesty of those who speak from lofty places. We appreciate you more than I can express, if I were still 6 years old you would be more important than Santa Claus......Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I know, right! It seems you've found something to take the focus off someone else. Let's see, could it maybe be someone like . . . joe? Real good chance of that.

Look, I know how it is to hate someone like a political personality. But what's got into you that you would decide to overlook the behavior of joe when it comes to girls and others he's fond of sniffing just cuz ya hate trump? I don't believe you're as bothered as you say. You just hate when I answer challenges to my viewpoint, and I force others to provide proper context after they've accused me of, ya know, taking something out of context. They remind me of Lazarus. They're completely unaware of their condition. But they come back empty handed--no proper context. Sad.

Are you here to retrieve something for them?

@glitterbag,
I'm sorry, but your friends make claims about proper context and other such nonsense in order to avoid admitting the obvious about what their favorite medical icon says right on camera, or what their favorite president does right on camera. Then they fail at every opportunity to provide the correct context they insist exists, and then complain about me asking them what's up with their continued deficiency in that respect. They're still pretending that there's a secret context that only people smarter than themselves understand; I guess that's their theory as to why they're incapable of understanding plain words when they're spoken, or what it means when an old man likes to plant his hands and nose in the hair of girls. How frickin' easy can you be!? Kinda lame, don't ya think?

Now let's get real. You hate it when your friends get caught emptyhanded when asked to back up their silly claims. Seems like you want to spare them the repercussions of lying about proper context by making this about the guy who caught them lying. Even you have to see the dishonesty in that . . .

@Glennn,
Oh Glennn, what makes you think these people are my friends? I've never met any of them.......and you, in all your perfection almost seem to be jealous. That's not a positive image Glennn, but luckily, we all love you and will forgive your mis-statements.......because we really want you to love us back, kind of like a close relative. Well, not like my close relatives, some of them are absolute dicks, but that's a whole different scenario, forgive me, some of them suck like Dyson's.

Not looking for forgiveness. I made no misstatements. Nor did I opt to shamelessly adjust my definition of normal in order to justify my support of a president whose behavior around girls is anything but normal.

And of course, we already know that joe will lie on the spot about his accomplishments, his education, etc. if it is expedient to his goal. Luckily, I guess his supporters know when he lies and when he doesn't.

The Red State Murder Problem

Takeaways:

• The rate of murders in the US has gone up at an alarming rate. But, despite a media narrative to the contrary,
this is a problem that afflicts Republican-run cities and states as much or more than the Democratic bastions.

• In 2020, per capita murder rates were 40% higher in states won by Donald Trump than those won by Joe Biden.

• 8 of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in 2020 voted for the Republican presidential nominee in every
election this century.

All part of the plan. Sell 'em more and more guns and when more and more people are killed we'll get more and more Republicans elected!

Gaetz justifies 'no' vote on insulin cap bill by saying diabetics should lose weight
Ella Lee USA TODAY 04/05/2022

Rep. Matt Gaetz justified his vote against a bill that would cap insulin at $35 a month for most Americans by suggesting people with diabetes should first lose weight before Congress steps in to help.

The Florida Republican claimed on Twitter on Thursday and in his newsletter a day later that obese people, not pharmaceutical companies, are running up the drug's price, writing that insulin's cost "increases as waistlines increase."

"While Democrat posturing of H.R. 6833 victimizes insulin payees as people with an uncontrollable disease that are being taken advantage of and need Big Brother to throw them a raft, lifestyle changes en masse would expeditiously lower demand and the subsequent prices of insulin,” Gaetz wrote.

Though the bill to limit the cost of insulin was Democrat-sponsored, it passed the House on Thursday with bipartisan support. Twelve Republicans broke party ranks and voted with Democrats. Gaetz was one of 193 House Republicans to vote against the bill.

About one in 10 Americans suffer from diabetes, and more than one in three have pre-diabetes, the Centers for Disease Control says. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body is unable to create insulin, requiring it to be taken to survive. With type 2 diabetes, the body doesn't use insulin well. It's caused by several factors.

Insulin costs have sharply increased over the last decade, with some insulin users spending upward of $2,000 a month on the drug. About one in four Americans reported rationing insulin to save money.

Among Americans who take insulin, about one in five would save money under the proposal, a Kaiser Family Foundation analysis says.

In his newsletter, Gaetz cites a CDC statistic that 90-95% of people with diabetes in the U.S. have type 2, which the agency says “can be prevented or delayed with healthy lifestyle changes."

“Arbitrary price controls are no substitute for individual weight control," he said. "Since 2000, the number of diabetes cases in the U.S. has nearly doubled. The demand for insulin has increased and the requisite price increase has followed suit. In other words, the price of insulin increases as waistlines increase.”

While type 2 diabetes is tied to obesity and physical activity, it's also tied to a number of other causes like insulin resistance, genetics, family history, genetic mutations, hormonal diseases, certain medicines and damage to the pancreas, according to the National Institutes of Health. Type 1 is likely caused by genetics and environmental factors, like viruses that might trigger the disease, the NIH says.

In Florida, which Gaetz represents, about 28% of people are obese and about 36% are overweight, according to the state's health department. About 13.1% of Floridians, or 2.4 million people, have diabetes, according to the Florida Diabetes Alliance.

The bill will need to attract at least 10 Republican votes in the Senate to overcome a filibuster and become law.
