@TheCobbler,
I see both parties as massively corrupt and very similar in many ways in their devious methods.
I might defend the idea that "the corruption of man is endemic to the species". From the Sumerian rulers of 5000 BCE to Vlad Putin today I would argue most people in power or looking for power are corrupt to some extent. This would lay aim on all sides of the US political structure. The activities involved of influencing others to join a cause may in fact be corrupt by nature.
I would suggest also that the ballot box is not effective at all as a means for change. If one wants change, real change, I suggest large sums of cash moved to strategic accounts controlled by international banks as a more effective means. Those perceived in power usually are puppets controlled by puppet masters hiding in the shadows. The puppet masters usually tend to be old world money families: Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Tata, etc. Some nouveauriche have influence in politics. We see some of that in Near Middle-Eastern politics: e.g.: Saudi Arabia and their control of US policies with regard to Iraq.
And I might further suggest that US politics has always been for sale in some form. Whether we look at Ambass. Ben Franklin's activities in France prior to 1776 shoring up support for the cause against England, or 1956-64 US policy in Vietnam supporting Dutch Shell Oil Co.
It's all a game and has always been a game. The losers are those not in power.
However, take heart that since we are all human, we all will die and our children will inherit this sewer we call civilization.
