The recent virtual Democratic National Convention boosted Joe Biden's prospects against President Trump, according to a running poll conducted by the University of Southern California.
The 2020 USC Dornsife Presidential Election Poll on Friday found 52.73% of respondents backing Biden, up from 50.4% nine days before. And 40.32% of those polled currently support the president, a slight drop from the 40.8% support he enjoyed on Aug. 19, which was Day Three of the four-day Democratic convention.
That 2-point bump is slightly lower than the recent 53.3% support high that Biden saw on Aug. 24, and Trump has roughly a 1-point drop in support, down from his recent high of 41.37% on Aug. 21.
The Democrats wrapped up their convention on Aug. 20, ending with Biden's speech that implored voters to choose "light" over "darkness" on Election Day. Thursday marked the end of the Republican convention.
The poll conducts a rolling-type survey, asking 6,000 respondents every other week about issues related to the election and their preferred presidential candidates. The daily numbers are an approximation of voter opinion.
