That's wonderful news, jcboy! Before you take an adoption attorney,
you may want to contact your local social services. They have so many
kids in foster care who would love to have a good home. That's how
I got my daughter.
You need to complete a home study with them regardless if you go
through social services or private adoption.
I really didn’t know where to start so when in doubt I always consult an attorney.
I will check with our local social service agency and then talk with a n adoption attorney. I just feel more at ease leaving all the legal stuff up to him because once a child moves into our home they’re not leaving!

@jcboy,
Waiting to hear that you're buying ribbons for your new daughter.
Neither can I. The whole adoption process is a little intimidating, that’s why we both want to consult with an adoption attorney first.
We’re not in any rush, we want to take our time and find a child that is confortable living with two daddies an older brother. One that is going to be happy living here.
The adoption process can get a bit iffy, the worst is the biography they want from you - the questions are already 5 pages long, but you will come through with flying colors.
That kid will be so happy in your home, we all know it!

Hang in with the paperwork.
I've no idea what is wise on that, not that you should obscure, but what they are looking for.
My parents almost adopted from St. Vincent's in NYC in 1949. They told me about a sister. Then we moved, new big job that didn't last.
Naturally, I wonder. I presume I can't research any of that.
