Well, when one is discomfited - (embarrassed) - one may blush.

When one has contempptuous feelings towards someone, one may sneer.

That is, the blush and the sneer are the physical expressions of the emotion.

When one feels sullen, one is most unlikely to groan - which is likely to be ean expression of pain.

Get it?

Also, both the sneer and the blush are facial expressions, while the moan is a sound...

The way to approach this type of problem (as I learned in SAT class), is to make a sentence with them, or even a phrase.

Here, you could say, "The politician decided to rescind his law,"

and, "The politician decided to withdraw his candidacy,"

and, "The politician decided to retire from his position,"

Now, these three are fairly similar, but the necessity of from in the third one makes it less similar to the first than the second is. The best answer is withdraw/candidacy.

chicanery:clever::tactlessness:truthful
to be too clever leads to chicanery; to be too truthful leads to tactlessness?
endorse:approval::endow:income
to endorse is to make others get your approval; to endow is to make others get your income?
