Should i have handled his mother or looked after his father. So i thought leave it /forget it
dear ..lets concentrate on the cheeze.

Dilip, we do need some context; but

Thus I ask myself, should i have handled (dealt with, attended to, helped, etc) his mother or (instead?) looked after his father (also?) (?). But I decided instead to leave it /forget it (entirely abandon that family)

…..So my dear(,) (on second thought, for now, today, etc) let's concentrate on the cheeze (cheese?)

leave it = set decision aside for another time; decide later; don't deal with it now.
