SOMALI terror group Al-Shabaab has released a video calling for attacks on major shopping centres in Canada, the UK and America.

The militants called on followers to “hasten to heaven” by attacking malls including Westfield shopping centres, shops on London’s Oxford St, the Mall of America in Minnesota and Jewish-owned centres.

The al Qaeda-linked group was responsible for the deadly Nairobi, Kenya mall attack in 2013 that left 62 people dead and more than 100 injured...

The threat posed by Islamic extremism is real and growing: PM
PRIME MINISTER TONY ABBOTT THE COURIER-MAIL FEBRUARY 24, 2015 12:00AM

...The number of foreign fighters is up. The number of sympathisers and supporters of extremism is up. The number of potential homegrown terrorists is rising. The number of serious investigations continues to increase...

...Last September, the National Terrorist Threat Level was lifted to high, which means a terror attack is likely. Critics said we were exaggerating.

But since then, we have witnessed the frenzied attack on two police officers in Melbourne and the horror of the Martin Place siege.

Twenty people have been arrested and charged as a result of six counterterrorism operations around Australia.

That’s one third of all the terrorism-related arrests since 2001 – within just six months. The judgment to lift the Threat Level was correct...

American writer hacked to death in Bangladesh spoke out against extremists

CNN)In his writings, author Avijit Roy yearned for reason and humanism guided by science.

He had no place for religious dogma, including from Islam, the main religion of his native Bangladesh.

Extremists resented him for openly and regularly criticizing religion in his blog. They threatened to kill him if he came home from the United States to visit.

On Thursday, someone did.

Peace and Violence has nothing to do with the religion. We need to understand this. Discrimination increases the gap between humanity.

What I feel is each nation has its own problems and things. We have anti social elements in every religion and so there are many social beings working for peace and humanity.

And are you going to deny rape is jihad and permitted. Because if you are you are dead wrong. Check your Koran.

@coldjoint,
Sure, the government is hiding the statistics because you say so. As usual, your posts are 100% full of crap.

Quora was simply an answer to a question. The other 2 links take you to the official government statistics about rape and who commits them. I am curious where you got your stats from? Care to give us the source for the numbers on that graphic? I doubt you can because there is no source other than the RW hate sites you hang out on.

Religious extremism has become the main driver of terrorism in recent years, according to this year’s Global Terrorism Index.

The report recorded 18,000 deaths in 2013, a rise of 60% on the previous year. The majority (66%) of these were attributable to just four groups: Islamic State (Isis) in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram in Nigeria, the Taliban in Afghanistan and al-Qaida.

Overall there has been a fivefold increase in deaths from terrorism since the 9/11 suicide attacks.

The report’s authors attribute the majority of incidents over the past few years to groups with a religious agenda.

While the chart below shows that this varies across region, bear in mind that more than 80% of deaths from terrorism in 2013 occurred in just five countries: Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Syria.

A breakdown by religion would have been helpful. I am guessing that about 90% are driven by Islam.

Nigeria’s militant Islamist group Boko Haram has sworn allegiance to Islamic State, which rules a self-declared caliphate in parts of Iraq and Syria, according to a video posted online. The pledge came in an Arabic audio message with English subtitles alleged to have come from Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and posted Saturday on Twitter, according to the SITE Intelligence monitoring service.

“We announce our allegiance to the Caliph of the Muslims ... and will hear and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity...

@vikorr,
The end result of christianity is love. The bible gives us two commandments. That we love God and that we love our neighbors as ourselves. Even if we don't know or understand the law as presented to us in the commandments most everyone can understand what it means to be loved. We also have the person of Christ who is our perfect example and embodies these two commandments in all that he does.
