Are they all grammatical?

-I intended to choose Selected Topic in Literature, but it has time conflict with Prose of Johnson, so I couldn't.
-I intended to choose Selected Topic in Literature, but it has a time conflict with Prose of Johnson, so I couldn't.

@WBYeats,
1. Okay though 2. more nearly collo

3. Okay if of course there are more than one such conflict

I might've writ

-I had intended to choose Selected Topic in Literature but I couldn't(,) since it has (or there's) a time conflict with Prose of Johnson

The first and third sentences are incorrect. The second sentence is correct.

@dalehileman,
Your opinion is, when there's only one conflict, 'conflicts' can't be used.

But do you agree that even when we have one plan only, we must say this?
-Much as I'd like to come, I've got plans tonight.

Never 'a plan'.

WB, to be sure only on the narrowest and most technical grounds

Point well taken WB; "a plan" isn't collo here

@dalehileman,
Thank you.

Do you also agree that this is correct?
-Republicans got the numbers they needed. (numbers=the number of seats)

There's only one number representing the total amount of seats, but 'number' is wrong. Do you think so?

@WBYeats,
WB it could depend somewhat on context. For instance if the discussion revolved around a specific number, then maybe singular. Say 1542 votes were required when the tally finally creeped up to that total

@dalehileman,
um...what do you mean by 'the final tally'?

How does it make it logical to say 'numbers' when there's one number only?

In dictionaries we find

-The course will have to be repeated owing to pressure of numbers (= too many students).

There's only one course, why 'numbers' in the plural?

@WBYeats,
Time is not a conflict yet it is for those who have no patience. Understand?

@WBYeats,
Use "time-related" instead of time alone.
