I'm just saying the Jehova's Witnesses are getting a little pushy.

@panzade,
Ooh, the winner was a more succinct delivery of one of mine.

It would be interesting to know how many variations of a given caption they
get each week and what the "tie-breakers" are.

@George,
As osso has told us before, Bob Mankoff is the cartoon editor for the New Yorker and oversees the contest.
Here's his explanation of the process used to determine the winner.
Hinge indeed had a line on the winning caption, which was just a tad more succinct.

@panzade,
I hadn't seen that explanation (he's tried before, somewhere back there), it made me laugh, natch, and nod.

The apartment's nice, but it's not a very welcoming neighborhood.

@ossobuco,
I've always thought that the most succinct is better and that is where we - not fail, but are too loose. Alas, I'm not personally snappy funny, and it's the connecting of funny and succinct that buys you a new Oldsmobile.
