He needs to get on the TV and tell the American people that for the rest of his time he will do as little as he can with controversial matters, that from now on as much of 100% of his attention as he can devote to it will go to working on making government work again. He will no longer represent the D's, he will from this day forwards only represent the American people, and he will work with anyone who wants to try to help government work.
It will not happen, The Professor is no where near that caliber of a man, but it should.
