Heart is a good meat to use as a basis for a stew, with onions, carrots, swede and herbs. I used to give it to my children and call it 'hearty stew' so that they wouldn't be put off by the thought.

Thought precedes action. Decisive action- is that a misnomer? How can action be decisive?

Decisive actions can indeed be the worst kind. If one is 100% sure about anything, one's reason is not functioning right.

Right turns on red are quite productive. Even more efficient are left turns on red onto one way streets.

'Streets' are a band very popular in England. Well, they're not really a band; they're just one guy pretending to be from London.

London is the place where I hope to live someday. Once I can get my life together, perhaps I will move across the ocean.

Ocean-front houses are very expensive in most countries, unless there is a danger of hurricanes. I used to live in London but now I'd rather live in a country town, not oceanside but possibly riverside.

"Streets" of London? I've heard of him.

Riverside Ramblers were a trad band where I came from, in the last century. If you don't know what a trad band is, you don't need to know.

Know that trad bands are a part of my youth, but that Riverside Ramblers I have never heard of. Someone recently gave me a jazz cd by someone called Tord Gustavsen, which is very good.

"Good" is such a relative term when applied to music. My own tastes run toward opera.

Opera is presumably not played by Tord Gustavsen and his Scandinavian Syncopators, but if it were, it would certainly be interesting.

Interesting dreams often boggle the mind. I wonder what Freud would say about using dead French poets to fight Fame academy 'stars?'

It isn't true. They're teaching people how to badly sing.

Singing used to be one of my passions and talents. Now, I'm lucky to get anywhere close to the correct notes.

Notes from an English town: I am going to the pub and can't spend much time here emailing. I've got to get up to the cashpoint.

Cashpoint to bankroll your drinking habit, how low! Whereas I am looking forward to a quiet evening in with a hot lemon and whisky, and the Da Vinci Code.

Code languages, sometimes complex, are frequently made by children. I wonder how they can understand them, and not a simple instruction?

Instruction is of little help when you attempt to teach the truly obstinate.
