To Gerald, standing on the small mound which the house had been, blah blah blah
so here's the question can i use where instead of which since mound can mean a thing not only a place?

In fact you should use where, as which doesn't make any sense. The use of which implies that the house was formerly a mound, and i believe the intent is to say that there is a mound
where the house once had been.

"Which" implies debris from a collapsed house forming the mound.
"Where" only implies location with no reference to debris.
