Can my grandson send this to his college office?:

Dear Sir/Madam
One of the lights in my room is gone/is broken/is not working; can you send up staff/technicians to look into the problem? Thank you. I look forward to your prompt response in action.
Yours faithfully

@WBYeats,
Dear Sir/Madam, I am aware that one of the lights in my room is not working. Would you please send someone to look into the problem. I would appreciate a prompt response and thank you in anticipation.
Yours......
@WBYeats,
Dear Sir/Madam
One of the light bulbs in my room has gone out. Could a member of the maintenance staff please attend to this?
Thanking you in advance for your speedy attention to this matter.
Yours faithfully
Yeats
@Bazza6,
It isn't clear whether it's the bulb that's inoperative, or something concerning the light fixture, switch, etc., however.
Thank you~
But the broken thing is not a bulb, but
What is it called?

The entire assembly is called a light fixture.
Thank you~
So you would say?:
-There's fluorescent lamp.
-There's a fluorescent lamp.
Dear, Existential Individual.
It appears that my life has been ruptured by the sudden failing of this light source that governs the inspiration of my work at the desk. I do not intend to impede on your cyclical schedule, but could you perhaps replace it? Make like an atom.
@One Eyed Mind,
1. What's your first language?
2. What does 'Make like an atom.' mean?
@WBYeats,
Or WB, if you mean the entire assembly I suppose "fluorescent light fixture"
@WBYeats,
Pay no attention to One Eyed Mind, he's a well known dick.
Btw, I would use the phrase 'not working.'
@izzythepush,
Yep, 'not working' covers all eventualities.
And just refer to it as a light. The light in my room is not working. One of the lights in my room is not working.
@WBYeats,
Then award the best answer the ribbon.
