@vivekpatel,
I think it's not right for pizza but is good with focaccia, which is the same dough, just without cheese and tomato, etc., on top.

I made a red grape focaccia about a month ago and it was great - but the recipe took a little longer than a regular focaccia/pizza dough, so I'd switch recipes next time, while doing the same thing with the fruit. But - here it is -

@vivekpatel,
My wife likes the Hawaaian that has pineapple on it in addition to meat.
I like peperoni with mushrooms and olives.

@vivekpatel,
The fruit pizzas I know are baked on a sugar cookie crust.

Do you have any more details about the type of fruit pizza you heard of.

@ehBeth,
Doesn't that make it more of a giant cookie than a pizza? Just asking. I'd still eat it gladly either way.

Diane brought one to Thanksgiving dinner one year. It had a sweet crust (more bread than cookie texture) lined with a light lemon curd and sliced fruit artfully arranged. What I remember of the fruit includes strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe and something else, might have been pears.

It was more like a tart but she called it a fruit pizza.

@vivekpatel,
Gnashes teeth in anger! cookie dough is not pizza! This is an advertising ploy!

Do I have to send you a ticket to Italy?

Forget about that.

@ossobuco,
Cookie dough is the base for fruit pizza.

Yup.

It is.

It's a lovely American invention, the same way that all-dressed pizza is and the same way most of the pizzas we eat in North America are.

@vivekpatel,
I've had these at parties at work and at friends' homes.

I like the simpler ones - just the cream cheese 'sauce' and different kinds of berries.

@vivekpatel,
I will say that the ones made on homemade cookie dough bases are much nicer than the ones made from prepared cookie doughs.

@ossobuco,
If they start doing it, I'll be very irritated, some mock by others, but it might also taste good.

Well, hey, you understand me.

I think you're talking about a fruit flan, not a pizza. Recipes abound online. Some have just a sponge cake-style bottom, and I've seen those bottoms available in supermarkets. The ones I like have a sweet pastry crust lined with a thin layer of chocolate, then a filling of cream cheese or custard, covered in fresh kiwi, mango, raspberries, strawberries, whatever's in season. Google "fruit flan". Either way, one of our favourite desserts!
