Hello. I am new to this forum, and appreciate any support I might receive. cher

I am working on a language application for English speakers studying Japanese.
But, I am in disagreement with the native Japanese speaker I work with.

My colleagues work wavers between "natural" translation (to English) and Direct translation. As for myself, Direct translation is my guiding principle, while translating as naturally as possible within the word-for-word approach.

The Japanese teaching method in practice here involves Japanese grammar cards,
reflecting a full sentence, so the English translatino shall coincide with these cards.

If you are in agreement with the Direct method as the guiding factor here, would you refer me to a journal or academic source to sight in my reasoning; otherwise, if you have any advice to me, that will also be appreciated.

Thnx for your time,
Sacolis
