Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me out I have obtained some years ago a diploma at a university but it is in Latin. My latin and google's is a bit rusty ( understatement ;-) ) so I am hoping if anyone here can help me ( and all other from the same uni) translate this to English that makes some sense :X

Lectori Salutem,

(my name)

(title of my thesis)

(my name)

What sort of diploma is it, for example AB, BSE, PHD, MA, OM or what?
They're all different

@Romeo Fabulini,
It is a PhD diploma at a Dutch university. I moved to Brasil but it has proven difficult to find a translator Sad

@Aktaeon,
I'll give it a try. Life's a bit hectic right now, so I'll have to do it a bit at a time.

Lectori Salutem,
Geetings to the reader,

Sapienti consilio a maioribus institutum est,
It has been established by the wise policy of the elders,

ut bonarum artium studiosi academicis rite peractis studiis

that students of the liberal arts, having duly completed their academic studies,

honorificum peterent industriae et eruditionis testimonium.

seek honorable testimony of their research and diligence.

OK, I finally have had some time to work on this. Here's what I've got.

Lectori Salutem,
Geetings to the reader,

Sapienti consilio a maioribus institutum est,
It has been established by the wise policy of the elders,

ut bonarum artium studiosi academicis rite peractis studiis
that students of the liberal arts, having duly completed their academic studies,

honorificum peterent industriae et eruditionis testimonium.
seek testimony honoring their research and diligence.

For which reason, since the honorable (your name) has satisfied the academic rules,

and has already pursued her education in a manner deserving of the
highest distinction,

Nos, quo causam honestissimam adiuvaremus,
We, in order to assist this most appropriate cause,

have not only undertaken an investigation concerning her advancement
in medicine,

tum audivimus eam defendentem disputationem
but have also heard her defending her disputation (title of your thesis)

in quibus omnibus cum sese talem praestitisset,
in all of which, since she has presented herself so well

ut Nobis doctrinam et dilligentiam suas probaret,
that she has proven her learning and diligence to us,

honorificum quod petebat testimonium ei tribuimus.

we grant her the honoring tesimony which she has sought.

Quapropter nos pro potestate nobis concessa eandem

Wherefore we by virtue of the same power given to us

doctorem sollemni modo rituque creavimus
make (your name) a doctor by the customary manner and ritual.

creato doctori

we have proclaimed and given her all rights and dignity due a properly created doctor

whether by law or by custom usually granted among educated men.

That there may be a firm and attested assurance of this, we have taken
care to hand over to her by the hand of the Rector Magnificus this
diploma, signed by the promoter, and confirmed by the great seal of the
University
