Is it possible to use a coordinating conjunction (and) with a conjunctive adverb (consequently, thus) to join to two independent clauses? If so, would the punctuation be the following?

The ball was deflated, and consequently, it did not bounce.

Thanks.

@cledet1,
Simple compound sentence:

The ball was deflated and it did not bounce.

The ball was deflated and, consequently, it did not bounce.
