So - we have 2 for Fury and one and a maybe for Middlesex - Rae - I am unsue whether you are participating or not?

Pueo - has the fact of your bookstore blowing away blown away your chances in this round?

Debacle - could you stop complaining about chad and vote?

Soz - can you decide one way or the other?

Can anyone who has not voted please do so now - here, on this thread, in their next post; Fury or Middlesex.

And as to Middlesex, it's "I next." In between, as the name implies, is all sex.

My vote is:

Fury.

If that sole vote results in a tie, though, I will happily change it to a vote for Middlesex.

Which is to say:

If all votes including mine (for Fury) result in a tie, I will switch, and the decision will be for Middlesex.

If all votes including mine (for Fury) result in a win for Fury, I will not change the vote, and the decision will be for Fury.

If all votes including mine (for Fury) result in a win for Middlesex, there is no need to change my vote, and the decision will be for Middlesex.

Is that clearer?

Holt on a minute! If sozobe gets to hedge her bet, then I'm adding a codicil. If I can't find that smeggin' book in the library, I'm moving to Middlesex. Understood?

Ok, scratch the codicil. I've got the book on hold at the library.

So I'm voting for Rushdie.

That's not a second vote, BTW. Well, it is a second one in the sense my first vote for Middlesex got hauled away in the nicked ballot box, but I'm not trying to vote twice for Fury, is what I meant to say, I think.

I'd go for Pi if they hadn't changed the voting.

Well, bookies - we have a winner!

Fury it is!!!!

So - discussion to begin on the 4th February - USA date? Is that agreeable?

Shall I set up a new thread now - cos folk were wanting to have somewhere to mention things?

Soz - any chance you might be able to be a bit of a discussion starter on this one?

Do we actually have lift-off???!!!

Wow!!!!

dlowen!!!
What is the time frame??? Do we read and discuss chapters one at a time??? Are their rules of the discussion???? Huh? Huh? Huh?
(I'm late, I'm very late.. for a most important date...)

I was giddy and excited. I morphed into a White Rabbit.
I'm better now.

But, what are the rules
?

I have set up the discussion site - with my suggested date for commencement - this can be edited, of course, if there is disagreement:

http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=59668#59668

Lash - I had envisaged the discussion beginning in a month - when we had all read the book - but there is the facility for people to begin discussion before - as long, I think, as they do not say anything which mars another reader's enjoyment- like giving out major plot details.

However, we are making this up as we go along - I am just running with things a bit fiercely now, just so as to get things started. All is up for discussion - though I think we sort of agreed to run with the monthly thing as a pilot for three months.
