You'll have to check with Deb on Procrastinator's Club, c.i. If it's not in paperback or trade, it probably won't be accepted though.

LOL! 'Tis not a book to be SPEED-read, though! Remember the repose in the title....

A wittle people book group, eh? Lemme see, who are the candidates for that - well, the first book of "Gulliver's Travels" of course - the Munchkin sections of "The Wizard of Oz" - May Gibbs' "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" books - (they are "Gumnut Babies" - http://www.q-net.net.au/~lolita/snugglep.htm) - there is the weeny city in the bottle in Superman's Fortress of Solitude, I have forgotten the name - there is E. Nesbitt's wonderful book about the tiny magical city - there is the lovely "Indian in the Cupboard" series and, of course, above all and quintessentially magical, Mary Norton's "The Borrowers" and its sequels!!!

But I am sure there are more....

That should keep us busy! Do we have to eat fairy bread at "Wittle People" book group meetings?

OK, I'm here now......late......late.........late................late. Can I join, huh?
Fury, I would've picked Fury, or Pi. I will read Pi anyway sometime.

As an aside, I just finished Love in the Time of Cholera (GGMarquez) Liked it. It probably has been well discussed for many years. I read a lot, 5 to 8 books a month, not to mention magazines and newspapers, but my reading gives me a bath of sounds, colors, words, images, ideas; analysis is not my strong point. Like Tartarin, I tend to read several things at once. More correctly, I do not finish one book before starting another, but I tend to eventually finish books or give them new homes.

I would also be interested at some point in a short story thread/club. Love Trevor and Munro and like the anthology books. Plus there are a batch of new short story writers out there.

Thank you Deb for all the quick-footed ear twirling.

I am? Shocked Right, I am. [Shuffles around papers in an attempt to look busy and enterprising...]

Can someone puh-leeze give me some pointers on this leading thing? I have lots of ideas, but haven't really gotten the pulse of this group well enough to decide which route to take. I have started bookgroups before, and am a member of one of 25 years' standing [yes, I started at age 7 -- my mother's], and generally it's very freeflowing. Someone starts talking, then a conversation ensues. With the book group I started, I was the leader in a rather unobtrusive way -- if the conversation lagged, I'd jump in with a question and get things moving again.

So, I can do that... or have an actual list of discussion topics... or have a list of discussion topics up my sleeve that I only unveil if things slow down... or...

I can also just take the reins and do as I see fit and if it doesn't work, we'll have learned something for next month. Very Happy

Soze - for what it is worth, my idea was that you might, if you wish, give some quotes or whatever about the book - or start the discussion with a question, observation or whatever.

if you have lots of things you wanna say, why not say 'em? 'Twould be a good jumping off place.

Also, if things get way off topic you might bring them back.

Whatever YOU want, though!
