Sometimes I see two people sitting on the same side of the table or booth in a resturaunt. Can someone tell me why people do that?

I can only really remember seeing young couples doing this - possibly so they can feel each other up under the table easier...

Either that, or they're arms-dealers or drug-smugglers.

'Cause they want to hold hands...............or do other things that would be impossible if they sat across from one another! Laughing

right???...i see that too....frankly im the type to want to look at the person im having a conversation with in the eyes...i have 3 guesses ...1-either one of them is on a diet and the other one is sitting next to him/her to slap the food away...2-they're about to do something that is not G rated....or 3-they are pathetically hopelessly too "ga-ga-goo-goo" for each other that they can't stand to be even a second apart...but that is only what i think....i hope somebody else can clear this boggling topic up for the both of us...lol....

I've seen older couples do this, and they aren't doing anything under the table. I find it odd. I thought if anyone here did that, maybe I could get a straight answer of why.

Its frustrating, lol.

Years ago I sat next to my boyfriend in a booth at a diner because we wanted to enhance the protein content of the tarter sauce they served with our seafood dish. Razz

Well, I am half of an 'older' couple.
I'm trying to warm up - and I kinda like being next to the guy.

I would sit next to, rather than opposite someone if we were drinking in a pub (with seats around the edges facing inwards) but not if there were booths.

Sometimes Mr Esthesia and I sit on the same side of the table if there's a splendid window view from that side. But sitting across from each other makes it easier to stretch my legs and put my feet in his lap.

Oh, ebeth, I thought you were kidding. I'm sorry. Thank you for your imput.

I said 'older couples', referring to people out of their teen years.

errrrrrrrrr, most people here at A2K are significantly out of their teens, so you're asking the right people.

Like Grand Duke says - many times couples like to do this. Not just to feel each other up, but to be close. An older couple may still be in love and want to be close. Also it is easier to eat off each other's plate and share food if you sit next to each other. I used to do this with my husband, until we had children. Now we have to sit opposite so we can divide and conquer.
