@Ticomaya,
He actually had a chance to score at least a hat trick, but failed miserably, they say (I saw the horrible USA-Germany match).

The US played well against Ghana, very well against Portugal (should've won) and poorly against Germany.
They have enough to beat Belgium, if they play like in the two first matches, IMHO.

Some Mexican commentators are very funny. They nicknamed Graham Zusy as "Daddy" or "The Father", since he scored the goal against Panama that kept Mexico alive in the qualifiers, but when he left the game against Germany one of them said: "In this game Zusy became Stepdaughter".

What does "corker" mean? A champagne celebration?

@fbaezer,
In the urban dictionary, they say this:

corker
1. n. Something that is better than the rest.
2. n. Something that will stop any debate on the subject.

1. Man, your car is a corker.
2. Jude just gave that corker of a speech and we all shut up.

@ossobuco,
CORKER

The first and only time i've ever heard that expression was in the movie 'Far and Away'.

Me thinks it's Hollywood Irish.

@eurocelticyankee,
Well, my Dad was an out and out Cockney, and used to say it frequently.

I don't think it's unusual to hear a Brit say it.

I always understood the literal meaning to be a reference to a batch of wine, possibly ale.
The beer or wine maker would take a taste to see if it was ready for bottling, and if it was a particularly good batch, it would be called a real corker, or something worth shouting about.

The term isn't rare over hare, unless you're under 35, of course. Then one would say "well good", or something equally unfathomable.

@Lordyaswas,
That sounds spot on Lordy.

Cant say I ever heard it used though and I lived in England for over 8 years.
Must have been living in the wrong part. Smile

More likely to hear ''That's the dogs bollocks'' than ''That's a corker'' where I lived.

Funny thought; I dare you to go up to a Kerry man and tell him he's a corker. What do you reckon Imur?.

Taking your alternative for "That's a corker", I reckon a typical reply would replace "That's the.." with "You're some.."; would lose the "..dogs.." and would add "..do you know that?"!

So Suarez has been suspended for 47 matches since 2010 without once receiving a red card.
