Limbaugh on torture of Iraqis: U.S. guards were "having a good time," "blow[ing] some steam off"
Hours before President George W. Bush announced plans to address the Arab world to condemn the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military personnel at the Abu Ghraib prison, Rush Limbaugh justified the U.S. guards' mistreatment of the Iraqis, stating that they were just "having a good time," and that their actions served as an "emotional release."
As reported by Wonkette.com, Limbaugh's comments can be found on his website. From the May 4 Rush Limbaugh Show, titled "It's Not About Us; This Is War!":
CALLER: It was like a college fraternity prank that stacked up naked men --
LIMBAUGH: Exactly. Exactly my point! This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of heard of need to blow some steam off?
The day before, on his May 3 show, Limbaugh observed that the American troops who mistreated Iraqi prisoners of war were "babes" and that the pictures of the alleged abuse were no worse than "anything you'd see Madonna, or Britney Spears do on stage."
LIMBAUGH: And these American prisoners of war -- have you people noticed who the torturers are? Women! The babes! The babes are meting out the torture.
LIMBAUGH: You know, if you look at -- if you, really, if you look at these pictures, I mean, I don't know if it's just me, but it looks just like anything you'd see Madonna, or Britney Spears do on stage. Maybe I'm -- yeah. And get an NEA grant for something like this. I mean, this is something that you can see on stage at Lincoln Center from an NEA grant, maybe on Sex in the City -- the movie. I mean, I don't -- it's just me.
An unbelievable reaction.

Considering the source roger, I have to disagree, it is exactly the reaction I would expect. It is in lockstep with the reaction of certain members of our happy little cyber family. The ones whose invitation to the family cookout I would mysteriously lose.
The remark I disagree with is in calling that ugly little trailer park thing with the cigarette hanging out of her mouth a babe....

Are you kiding? She's just the right sort of date for the nascar-watchin'. country-music lovin', gun-totin', cousin-screwin', church-goin', constituency Bush is counting on.
I prefer my trailer-trash a bit more refined..like Tonya Harding, or "Jessi" Lynch.
Ya know, HB, you'd be really pissed if someone used that kind of stereotyping about Arabs, even if it were in jest.
Limbaugh's reaction ("boys will be boys") is like what I read a guy who works for Ollie North say on the radio the other day. He compared what those soldiers were doing to high school atheletes indulging in a little hazing.
Too bad we can't see photos of a naked Limbaugh being humiliated by some guys letting off steam. On second thought, maybe not...
It's just another reason people shouldn't listen to Limbaugh.
Yeah, I heard that, and was shocked by his lack of sensitivity. I think, that in his zeal to soften the impact of what those adolescent sadists had done, he really went off the deep end.
US ARMY RESERVES A JOKE AND DISGRACE
Those army soldiers are a disgrace. Regardless of what the prisoners did, these are the USA troops and they cannot do that. They should all be courtmartialed, including the officers.
Having said that, more and more IRAQUI's are turning a blind eye to the atrocities being committed by their FELLOW MUSLIMS. Whether it's Shiite or whatever they call themselves, their own people are doing this and are these "FREE AND LIBERATED" people helping us out? HELL NO. Perhaps we should just escelate our offensive military machine there and shoot and blow up everything that moves. This Muslim against Christianity bs is really tiresome. They want to see American might? Lets smoke one up their.....they can use their rags on their heads to control their massive internal and external bleeding. To hell and Allah with them all.
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg..how do you answer something like that....funallthetime...our educational system is in worse condition than i thought.

I think that's the main difference between you and Limbaugh.
I imagine Rush has had a few wet dreams lately: he's naked and Lyndyn Babe has him by the leach.
What women look like computes for me (apropo of limbaugh or bipbear) re surmises I could make -- that might or may not be dead wrong.
I surely don't care if they are babes.
But looks matter re figuring how a scene is working.
And yet I have trouble making the jump re the videos. I see the young woman in the leash scene in a clear stance, some confidence there, whatever else is going on. 'course, that could just be her normal stance, troubling enough in the situation.
On Limbaugh, I have listened to him only for a half sentence or so, til I could switch channels. My defense of my cutting him off is that I have read representative points of view from him, previously. I have/had an old friend who did listen to him and when she heard me knock him challenged me to have I ever listened for a whole program. Well, no. I have my sensitivities, I might need to implode it I did.
Hearts and minds. let me not guess what was in her's, the girl with leash, whatever my doubts. OK, I guess automatically, from her stance, but let me not conclude.
I am very sorry for the circumstance.

It is my sincere wish that you find many more differences than just that between me and Rush Limbaugh..........
BP Bear:
A few additions:
Limbaugh and rock don't mix.
Squeeney can't even dismally like Rush.
Limbaugh would never wear tight pants (besides, he'd break them),
I can't imagine him riding a bike.
Plus you've got a heart. He ain't got none.
Man you had me worried there for a minute. Thank you, I feel better
I can be disgust as much as I want, but I think that everyone including Limbaugh is entitled to be retarded and to have his retarded opinion.
What I really don't understand, and I hope I will not offend anyone, is that in your society Limbaugh-characters can speak whatever they want (and one again: I have no problems with that part actually) and on the other hand boss can end up with real problems if he says to his secretary that she looks nice today.
Maybe I am exaggarating a bit, but not too much I believe.
