A lot of people ask me about Cockney Rhyming slang. Where it comes from & how it works.
So I'm wondering who can translate the piece below from CR into
standard English
"the boy's done good"
tempus fugit. time to split
first I grab my round the houses
then my dicky dirt goes on
next my brand new daisy roots
on my plates of meat
brush my barnet fair
waiting is my nanny goat
don't forget my tit for tat
or my turtle doves, for my
german bands
leave my cat & mouse
go down the garden path
the frog and toad is very quiet
take my ball of chalk to town
gotta see my china plate
meet him in the rub a dub
our favorite is the pig and whistle
if only for the chick behind the jump
she's got bristols you would die for
and a smile
that says, hi there big boy
sparky's waiting at the jump
watcha having he quickly asks
a pimple and blotch
and a pig's ear I reply
sparky and me have a dose of rabbit and pork
beats the dog and bone any day
sparky knocks out jam jars by the score
says he's got a tasty runner
I can have it for a monkey
I trust old sparky, so yes I says
I'll have some of that
after all
a nod's as good as a wink to a blind man.

very good, I thought Aussies had a similar version of CR.
May do - but I wasn't raised speaking it.
Is the jump pump? Is that what you call the thing the beer comes out of?
Damn, Deb is good.
Marking with southernese.
the "Jump" = counter. Jump is taken from horse racing, i.e. a hurdle or fence. same as we say --- it's time to put your nosebag on,,, if it's meal time. If you are out of work, you are out of collar, i.e. horses collar as in horse & cart.
Does that make sence ? You got all the others right.
I was drinking with a mate of mine a while back and there was a bit of a punch up over some nonsence. Quite a lively fight it was & my mate said --- "good pub this, they often put a good caberet on"
Ah! Got it! Jump is a good one!
