@firefly,
Someone needs to keep an eye on the fireplace. It might burn down the entire establishment.

@ossobuco,
Sorry, I guess it's all the sweets that I've gotten tired of. I should have been more specific, since I do like savory delectables. What a brat.
Maybe it's years of bad cookie making by myself and others; I think I never did make really delicious christmas tree cookies. Bah, humbug.
On further thought, I do like some cookies, some of them from other lands - maybe it's the same old thing that gets me down.

Signed,
Ms. Picky

@firefly,
There I agree.

Funny about memories - I and my cousins had a rich uncle who nicely invited the lesser families to a lovely christmas for a few years when we still lived close enough and people were getting along. Older and wiser now, I don't think of him as a bad guy, just part of a then largish irish american brood with many (many many) resentments among them.

I remember the tree in the great room, the billiard room, the den with the burgundy leather club chairs, the ribbon candy. Oh, and the dog and the pool. Anyway, of all those, what really sticks are those great chairs.

Odd for me, as even back then I was attentive to food, is that I don't remember the christmas meal at all, though there must have been a buffet. Maybe I was starting to notice 'decor'.

@ehBeth,
I used to have some Beryl Cook cards - back when b. partner had a garden center, she featured them in the front desk space. I've one I'll have to find of two women very happy about eggplants..

@ossobuco,
Eggplant! great idea

I'm going to make our Christmas chicken in the slow cooker tomorrow. It may not be a great day to experiment but what the heck!

@ehBeth,
Chicken is great in the slow cooker. This recipe might not sound good but it's great in a slow cooker. You take one can whole cranberry sauce, I envelope of Lipton Onion Soup Mix, 1 quarter cup of orange juice, mix it all together and pour over your chicken or a turkey breast. The cranberry sweetens the onion taste and when fully cooked, the sauce makes a wonderful gravy.

But stick to your regular routine for Christmas, you can try the other recipe another time.

@glitterbag,
Glitter, enBeth knows how to cook chicken.
Trust me on that.

I don't mean to taunt you, but ehBeth knows food more than a lot of us.

@tsarstepan,
I don't get it-- I happen to be interested in turks in germany, and later reading.
Greek funky rock? Interested too, but I don't want just to hear music.

@ehBeth,
I LOVE Turkish food!

And the music is great!

I've put on my new jingle socks and I'm ready to dance until I've worn holes in them.

I wonder if Santa will drop by and join us, once he's finished his rounds for the night?

since Santa is originally from Turkey, I think the odds are pretty good that he'll drop by our lounge party
