Is there really no word for somebody who has lost his (best) friend?
We have words for (the loss of) all the family members, widow, orphan, ...

Not really.

What do we call a parent who has lost a child?

What do we call a person who has lost a sibling?

What do we call a child who has lost one but not both parents?

When you are an adult and lose both of your parents, are you an "orphan?"

We have "orphan" and "widow" or "widower, " because there is a legal bearing on their status

There is no associate legal status with a person losing a friend.
