@Frank Apisa,
In the early 80's, I was earning extra money doing anything in order to get a deposit together to buy a house. A neighbour of mine worked for an exhibition firm which was taking an old routemaster (the red double decker above) to New Orleans for a film festival.
He offered me £50 to clean the paintwork inside, and so I spent an entire weekend and hundreds of buckets of hot soapy water, removing 30 years of nicotine stain.
The paint underneath was a rich eggshell colour, and looked brilliant when it was all clean and shiny.
They took it over on a ship, it proved to be a big novelty attraction during the festival and was apparently sold to a restaurant owner when it was all over.
So, if anyone in or around New Orleans has seen a red double decker with a brilliant shiny eggshell interior, it was probably scrubbed from top to bottom by yours truly.
