I'm 63, and i feel very uncomfortable about death, too--and that's probably because i'm closer to it than you are. However, i can take no comfort from bronze age fairy tales by unwashed, lousy and flea-bitten, slack-jawed hillbillies.
I also know the difference between the words whether and weather, but that, of course is a minor point in the scheme of things. What you may not realize is that the distinction between believing that one will die and go to heaven or hell, and accepting that one will die and the only result is obliteration is a minor point in the scheme of things, too.
