Hello everyone,
First time here... So a few years ago I broke my jaw - right down the middle - and I had a metal plate put in it.. All has healed up nicely and has felt fine until a few weeks ago. Recently I have had some minor pain in my chin right below the plate on the bottom of my jaw (not directly on my face but below my chin - but on the bone)... I am really worried because I am not sure if it's something related to the plate in my jaw or if it has to do with me chewing tobacco for the past 5 years or so... should I be worried?
Thanks for the help
-Dave
@davus,
You should worry so that it will cause you to go see a doctor.
It could be any number of things.
I'M 15 and I have the same problem, it's called Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome. It's serious so you need to tell your parents and let them take you to a doctor/dentist/or specialist and they will make sure it's that. For the time being do NOT chew any gum or chewy hard items. Your disk in your jaw has slipped so your jaw bones are hitting eachother.
Yes of course it is the issue about worrying as sometimes and with your eating adding habit about tobacco can also cause problem to your health just consult the doctor that would be helpful for you.
@davus,
You should consult with a good doctor
@davus,
Wait .. it can happen because of chewing tobacco. there is always a chamce. Visit a doctor at the earliest.
