I went out with a girl on valentines day as friends. Now I really like her and I want to ask her out

We had plans to go as friends, and she knew that. I told my mom I was going to be out from 11am-3pm with her and she would drop me off(she drove because she was a senior) at a meeting. We planned to go to the beach and a sandwich shop but instead we went up the coast, walked on many beaches, and played with each other in a few parks. This girl is not a slut and she has nearly a perfect SAT score. I think she is just amazing and she is very pretty. We have a lot in common and during the day we had long periods of just staring into each others eyes. After what had happened and because we didn't tell our parents specific details (she is 18 with a 16yo), I got my laptop taken away and she was grounded for the week(she didn't care, she usual never goes out). I chatted her on FB that night. I had forgotten about the Valentines day until then and I asked her to be my valentine. She said yes but just as friends. I really like her and we talk a lot but I am afraid she doesn't LIKE me. Some questions I need help with 1.Why would she say just as friends? The age gap? Because she doesn't LIKE me? She doesn't want to lose me as a friend if we break up? 2. Should I ask her out? where and when? How? I really just don't to ruin it for both of us. Another possible scenario would be just slowly kiss her all of a sudden some were in private?

@Josh4eyes,
Her statement could mean any of those things. I don't recommend the surprise kiss thing - that crap only works in the movies.

Instead, I dunno, maybe talk to her?

@jespah,
wow, you sure got a lot done in 4 hours.

How many beaches and parks did you manage to walk on and play in within that time frame, as well as spending long periods staring into each others eyes?

I admire your time management skilss.

@jespah,
What's the longest time you've ever stared into RP's eyes jes?

I don't think I've ever gotten past 15 seconds with Wally.

Well, unless it's an official staring contest, then all bets are off. Then I'm like....will....not.....close....eyes.....

@chai2,
Well it was longer than 15 seconds. She is sorta a quiet girl. But not too quiet or shy

Because she likes you as a friend.

You know, sometimes there just isn't a real 2-2way spark. You can feel something, and feel she feels something more - but you don't actually KNOW that.

Right now, what you know is that she likes you as a friend and that she has said that is how she'd like to keep it.

(why are people always trying to push more onto others - I really don't get it)

that's a brilliantly stupid approach - it doesn't work in real life

@ehBeth,
Well, maybe when we stare at each other, she is waiting for me to make the first move? Idk. That's why I'm asking it on here

@Josh4eyes,
or she's staring at you, wondering why you're so weird

there's no way for us to know for sure

she's the only one who knows

Why are you asking a bunch of strangers on a web site? We don't know you. We don't know her. How TF are we supposed to know? Man up and find out yourself.

@chai2,
Hell, we've been married for over 20 years and I know they're hazel. After that, I'm stumped as to the exact shade, etc. I tend to stare if he says he's got something in 'em.

PS to the OP - ask her. And be prepared for her to reiterate that she thinks of you as a friend. It seems pretty clear to me from what she's said that that's how she sees you.

I think this is the same troll that was asking about taking the girl he didn't ask to prom out. Same MO with not addressing what is being said to him, repeating the same thing over.

I gotta tell ya, it really frosts my ass when someone who's known someone 5 minutes starts in with the "I really love her" ****.

That is so insulting to all the people who have maintain relationships through decades, with attending blood sweat and tears we all go through. The audacity of comparing that to someone you chat with on FB and go out with once is disgusting.

@chai2,
This is not a troll, I have never attempted to go to prom before, and I have know her and liked her for a while now.
