firstthought selects # 6
Taffy Le Blanc (the Lhaso Apso) says # 18 for her.
The dog's just distracted 'cause yer still nekkid, rjb.
Really, someone, throw the man a towel or somethin'.
Thanks Equus and realjohnboy!
Me bein' the impatient one I am...I confess that after waiting a very short period of time after posting my guess...I looked up the answer.
*shhh!* don't tell anyone!
Caprice: As long as you did it AFTER you played, that is cool. I'll be posting the results within a few moments. I gave one last participant (who was on-line) until 5 pm EST to play. The deadline seems to have passed.
Being Dasher takes a bit of effort getting everything together. But it is kind of fun. Watch, play and when you are ready, take a turn at it.
-johnboy-
Hi, everyone from johnboy...
The correct definition for UCALEGON is: neighbor whose house is on fire.
Safcracker pmed me with "A neighbour whose house may or may not be on fire." I didn't realize he was British. 3 points to Saf.
Cav, ehbeth and 1st Thought guessed #6, so two points to each of them.
Jespah is the big winner (again?) in posting a plausible bluff. Her entry (#13 re some sort of trapezoid) caught hiama, onyxelle, margo and feolola). 4 points. Nice job, bluffmeisteress.
Cav's #4 involving a sea cucumber appealed to Littlek and diane. 2 points
Clary's Greek chorus (#9) attracted equus and individual. 2 points.
Gaining one point each were:
Hiama (#19-Norse gods-from devriesj's vote)
Felix (#18-Ukelele cat-from Taffy)
Littlek (#17-Nambibian Island-from Clary)
Onyxelle (#15-Chlorophyl-from P&L)
Equus (#11-Mythical creatures-from mac11
Margo (#10-Unit of heat-from caprice)
Taffy (#7-Sentient felines from Felix)
nakid Realjohnboy (#3 Irish dance from jespah)
Everybody else got zilch. So it goes.
My documentation of this round went a bit awry. Please let me know if I have made errors so far. Thanks. Scores shortly
Over to you, Diane. Are you nakid? -rjb-
OK, RJB, you did a fabulous job as dasher!! No, I am not nakid, but I refuse to tell you whether or not I am nekkid. I used to get teased because I really pronounced naked "nekkid." Sigh.
The word for the next round of balderdash is:
SPITCHCOCK.
When i was a lad, we were so poor that I ate letters off of the page of the last few books in the house. The "k' between nekid and nekkid was, I guess, "Special K." Enough already with this joke:
SPITCHCOCK, huh
whoohooooo!
thank you, gawd of the computer!
spitchcock
hmmmm
seems a lot like, errrrrr, never mind, that might be a good bluff
errr and
Thanks, rjb! you did a great job, even with one hand holding that towel up!
Well done rjb...
So glad Caprice joined us - I need the points!
Beth....ie - you let me down....
What you do when alfred makes a bad horror movie.
I really believed that ucalegon was a character from one of Homer's plays whose name meant "Dr. What-me-worry?", does anyone know who this guy really was? I'm pretty sure that my english teacher was sure to hammer that into my head for a test, could've been just a bad dream though...
It's not in my reader's encyclopedia...
Ucalegon: trojan elder
Closest I could get, hold on...
Here it is...
Ucalegon
margo: *L* Gee, glad to help! So you were the one to come up with that particular bluff I see. Hmmm...I can't wait to submit my own bluffs!
So when does the next round begin?
Doh! Sorry, I'm not only clueless but blind too!
Spitchcock
Hmmm...okay....
finally got 1 point - thank goodness
Golly, I'm the bluffmeisteress.
Well, maybe now I'll finally start outscoring the quadrupeds.
Nice round! Spitchcock....hmm, I think I ate one, or perhaps did it to a chicken once...
Spitchcock?! Almost sounds like it belongs in the "that sounds dirty game" but I guess that's just me. I've been out of college too long and reading my 5-yr.-olds books! I'm so embarrassed...
Hmmm...a definition.... must think, must find brain cells to use...
