@neologist,
What you're saying is that all that humanity that lived before jesus came upon the imgained scene of men to create the sacred laws, that they are sacrificed by the very god who created them, because they didn't follow his rules for eternal life.

Yea, makes a lot of sense; just another contradiction of god's love.

@neologist,
Quote:
We are not unlike God in our concept of fairness.

The concept of fairness is a human thing. We have this idea about fairness, and then we cry when life is not fair. It's the illusion that we are entitled to something.

I'd like to respond. But you have not pointed to any specific phrase or sentence in my post to justify your comment.

@Cyracuz,
OK, justice.
Is that also just a human thing?

@neologist,
My post is self-explanatory. It's about your god and the people who lived before jesus came on the scene 2000 years ago. Humans have been around for about 8 million years. Since they didn't profess god as their savior, they are all lost humans according to the bible. There were many other gods before jesus. Do they count?

@cicerone imposter,
I really can't help you because the Bible only goes back as far as written history. A little over 5000 years. Whatever there was before that was . . .. well. Nobody was writing then. Unless you know something I don't

@neologist,
The bible doesn't go back 5,000 years. Shocked The oldest known text is about 1600 years old.

Honestly dust to dust. You are made of the universe, and will return to the universe to be created again... Until we are eternal.

I don't think I said there were extant texts 5000 years old, only that written history goes back about 5000 years. If you count the years recorded in the scriptures, Adam would have been 6000 years old in 1975 or 1976. But the flood pretty much obliterated any writing that may have existed at that time, about 3400+/- BCE.

Going strictly by the Bible, of course.

If you are interested in Bible chronology, a Google search of the Nabonidus Chronicle will help to pinpoint dates mentioned in the Hebrew scriptures.

@neologist,
I read the oldest bible is the Codex Sinaiticus (1,600 years old). It was originally written in Greek, and was pieced together through the combined efforts of many nations. It went online July 6th( 2009? Not sure )

@neologist,
There's a plethora of reasons I could indicate to you but I'll just go with the obvious - why do you think you need some sort of ruler? Why do you think you 'need' guidance?

@JPLosman0711,
You speak as one totally satisfied with your lot in life and in the world scene.
So everything is as it should be.
Tell that to the relatives of the passengers of Malaysia Airlines MH17, for starters.

@edgarblythe,
He speaks as one with authority. I'd just like to know his reasoning.

Some non believers, and some believers are without reason.
