Does "the unity" here refer to "the unity of our country/people/the United States of America"?

@oristarA,
Now just talk about the English lesson.
My dictionary says:
let go of
v.
release, as from one's grip

This definition obviously verifies the accuracy of my use of "let go of."
What do you say, JTT?

You have to understand what the difference is between a literal meaning - imagine I had a tight grip on your hand and then I let go of it - and a figurative meaning. The meaning for Ishii isn't literal, it is figurative hence no 'of '. Read your dictionary entry again.

x The prisoner was let go of. x
The xxxx was let go. Okay

He let go of her hand and she fell back.
x He let go her hand ... . x

Figurative? Didn't McArthor actually release Shiro Ishii?

@oristarA,
Ori, someone held in a legal (or illegal fashion) is not in the same literal grip as described by your dictionary entry. Those released by authorities are let go not let go of.

Just ask any ENL.

@oristarA,
McTag described to you that what I said regarding 'let go' was accurate.

How is it, Ori, that you think you should question me for the things I advance but Contrex isn't to be questioned on the things he puts forward?

Good, thanks.
No offense, JTT.
Reconfirming is just a way of learning. This case alone cannot speak for anything.

No offense taken, Ori. I have always encouraged questions.

This case provides a perfect parallel. Just because Contrex advances a silly notion that you seem to be in agreement with doesn't make it accurate, nor does it relieve him of his responsibility to defend it.

Contrex has a bad habit of advancing spurious notions and then fleeing the scene. This is made all the worse because he pretends that he is an English teacher.
