In a large dining hall, many students are waiting for their guests/teachers etc.; on each table, which has been assigned to a particular group of students, there is an XYZ showing the name of the guest/teacher for that group of students. This XYZ is sometimes like a triangular thing fallen down.

What is this XYZ thing called in English?

there is a placecard at each seat indicating the name of the guest/teacher.
