Constant Bleeding...

Hi everyone, I don't know where to begin I had my 2nd baby July 2012 periods went back to normal until December 2012, then I bled until September 2013 went to the doctors 10 times about this, went to the hospital 3-4 times the bleeding was extremely heavy with giant clots that hurt to pass, I wasn't pregnant so wasn't a miscarriage, was bleeding for 9 months straight with no break was wearing tampons and pads at the same time and had to change both every 30mins to 1 hour, I had STD tests with all came back normal, had a scan which shown my lining was thicker than usual but gynecologist said this was normal because of my age (23 now was 22 at the time) After I stopped bleeding in September I started bleeding again in November 2013 and haven't stopped since again, The blood is extremely heavy again and bright red, it just pours out basically. I'm not on any birth control because they tried using them to stop the bleeding last year but nothing worked they gave me 4 different tablets to stop the bleeding but nothing worked.. I am concerned and feel like all the doctors don't care or want to help me?? The bleeding is affecting everything ATM. and I just don't know what to do or how longer I can cope with it I was having sharp pains yesterday don't know if its related but over all the only pain I really get with it is when I pass huge clots.... Sorry for the TMI

@shanooli,
I'm sorry this is happening. You're clearly not being served by your doctor or the hospital.

Can you travel to another area where you could get medical care from someone else? Even to a different hospital. Tell them what you told us.

This is far from normal, and you should not have to suffer like this.

@jespah,
I am not sure with the NHS.. The hospital always seem to fob me off or tell me its not their problem, last time I went they just did some tests and sent me home and told me to go back to my GP who referred me to gynecology, they seen me and said to try the coil, but I am still waiting for them to do that?? If I go through another hospital I could be waiting even longer, I don't feel like they have done enough they should be finding out what is causing this? I could try going to a different hospital. I didnt even think of that TBH Smile

@shanooli,
I'm not a doctor, but I would be very leery of any IUD used to control bleeding, sometimes they increase cramps and bleeding and occassionally get imbedded in the uterine lining. Have they checked your iron levels? Both my mother and my aunt practically hemorrhaged after they turned 35, but even that wasn't normal. My mom would be so anemic and weary. If you can get to another hospital, try that. Please keep trying to find a good OB, it could be fibroids or endometriosis. But these conditions can be treated, in the last 30 years treatment has become much more sophisticated. Good luck.

Remember, THE INTERNET IS OUR BEST FRIEND for looking up all sorts of ailments, and we end up knowing more about it than the doctors, and can keep tabs on whether they're diagnosing and treating us correctly..Smile
There are also discussion groups around the net where people can get together to talk about their same medical condition and offer each other advice.

@glitterbag,
Bleeding fibroids can act like that, although I'm not so sure about their being able to be completely continuous. I suppose too that it could be something else going on, and agree with all so far that you need a more interested physician. I'd prefer a gynecologist myself, but not one who was dismissive to the situation, which clearly should be listened to. At the very least, you may be quite anemic from all this, depending on the volume of blood lost.

@ossobuco,
It's hard to hear that a doctor would dismiss this as no big deal. Bet if the doc was constantly bleeding it would get corrected.
