dating questions?

I met a man online. We decided to meet. He asked me to meet at his house. I politely refused and suggested to meet in a public area. We met at a coffee shop finally. It was a good meeting. We both wanted to meet for the second time. The first meeting was in his town. So, he would drive to my town for the second meeting. He asked to stay in my house. I felt it was too soon to bring him home. I politely explain why I couldn't let him stay at my house. He said that he understood and would stay in a hotel. But then he behaved cold and didn't contact me. I am from an Asin country. Is this the American culture? like bring a man home in the first or second meeting? we are 2.5 hours away. What should I do? If he does not contact me in the future, should I ask him whether he still plan to drive to my town in the next weekend? Thank you very much for you answers/suggestions!

@Freshwater,
Personally, if it were me, I'd pass on the whole thing. He seems to look for a sexual relationship. It doesn't sound as though that's what you're seeking.

@Freshwater,
No - this is NOT the American way.

Do not let this man come to your house and don't go to his house. You do not know him well enough.

Maybe the trip is difficult for him. Perhaps you could meet him half way at a PUBLIC place. Then you both only have a little over an hour to drive home.

PS - After this, find someone who lives closer!! Smile

OK..understood...but if (and when) that move comes to be, it's in the future. In the meanwhile, I'd still meet halfway... and I'd keep it really casual. He seems to be in a hurry to accelerate the relationship. Boundaries can be an issue.

By the way, how come you are moving to there?

@Freshwater,

That's being too pushy.
I personally never ask to stay in a lady's house, I wait til she asks me to stay..Smile

I think you need to be clear in your mind what you want in this relationship. once you establish that you can judge this person from that angle. if you are looking for friendship alone its ok to be in touch online itself without inviting to meet even. of if you want to go little further than that you might have to take extra care that this man is the right one for you in that regard what you are looking for in the relationship. so your objectives of the relationship will give you the answer to it......good luck
