Butts in the Air

They are used to being a bit curled/tucked. Curling yer body makes the butt protrude unless you curl backwards.

Sleeping on yer side isn't something babies do, they don't have the motor skills.

remember that their proportions are very different from an adult's, and they are a lot more flexible. So what is uncomfortable to us may not be to them.

Linkat, if it bothers you to see the baby's butt sticking up in the air, I have a suggestion. Simply wrap a heavy weight in some fluffy material (so the weight doesn't cut into the baby) and place it firmly on the baby's butt.

I use a white cotton material and wrap it around a weight from a barbell.

The butt stays down every time.

You're correct, Joe.

My baby was not happy sleeping on her back;we wound up having to put her in her carseat to sleep until she was around 4 months old.

I think there may be an evolutionary reason behind the preferred sleeping position. My baby was able to spray her almost liquid poop an amazing distance. Perhaps, if awoken suddenly by a predator, a baby would be in the ideal position to defend itself.

Ooops should have said older baby. Thanks Joe completely agree. My baby slept on her back until we no longer could keep her that way. She is 18 months old.

And yes bromeliad it is very cute. Just always wondered why she seems to sleep with her butt up.
