Does it seem likely to anyone that if your CIA director tells you Its A Slam Dunk that Saddam had WMDs, and the consensus is sure SH is aiding al-Quaida, the best move is to take war to SH?

Why is Bush expected to have better intel on this than Tenet?

Also, if Bush is hearing this, shouldn't he ask for a plan of war, whether he has to use it or not? Don't you think we have contingency plans for other possible scenarios on desks in the Pentagon and WH?

Why isn't Tenet the source of the questions and criticisms in this case?

The excerpt shows Bush didn't sit back satisfied after the presentation, but challenged Tenet again, and was told again-- "Don't worry. Its a slam dunk..."

A open wound
So far the blood has been dripping. With this new book the wound is open. When Joe Wislon's book comes out the flow will be unstoppable. The swing voters will have to actually think about real facts.

Woodward piece???

Here's what came across:
(1) Cheney is an evil mastermind who runs the WH

(2) Tenet is inept

(3) Bush illegally diverted funds $ 700 Million, without Congress knowing (Woodward pointed out that a little document called the Constitution plainly states this is illegal.

(4) Bushco shared top-secret intel with the House of Saud BEFORE THEY EVEN TOLD POWELL

(5) Bush and the Saudis have a deal to lower oil prices in the late summer/early fall to help Bush win the election.

(6) MOST DISTURBING = BUSH BELIEVES HE WAS CHOSEN BY GOD TO SPREAD DEMOCRACY AND FIGHT EVIL. (He listens to this "other father" instead of his "own father (Bush I)".

But, how would a President know his CIA director would speak so convincingly, and be wrong?

so we are left with bad intelligence, unsupported rumours and an agenda by Cheney/Rumsfeld and with all that we go to war? or was it the mushroom cloud promised by Rice? You know in '63/64 Vietnam we had about the same number of US casualties we now have in Iraq and the offering from the Pentagon/White House then was that we just needed to overwhelm them with our superior firepower, 50,000 dead americans later we cut and run but the rhetoric is beginning to sound the same. As the majority of conservatives have already stated that we have accomplished the mission of ridding the Iraqi people of Saddam all that remains is the continued loss of lives on all sides which is not a very honorable objective in my mind. So it goes and bring it on 'cause I am sitting this one out.
