I guess I'm a professional dilletante. I've been a paramedic, and Army Medical Specialist, I have a BS in Molecular Bio, and another BA, as well as an MA in Medieval History. Right now I'm in a PhD program in History,and doing the part time faculty thing.
I also have practiced Karate for the last 22 years (I think I'm too dumb to quit! Personally, I'm waiting for the orthopedists to come up with a punch-card for knee surgeries like SBC has for coffee...buy nine, get the tenth free!)
I'm an opera fan, but I also am a sucker for '80s new wave. Go figure!
I am comfortable in French, German and Latin, and can work my way through Arabic and Urdu. I thought I was comfortable in English until I was subjected to Baltimore (hon!).
