@anonymously99,
Not at all claiming I do or have ever abused drugs. Only trying to have my point understood.

I can't understand how atheists can say creatures as beautiful as this evolved by random chance..

@Romeo Fabulini,
The evolution of this creature is not by random chance.
The ****-me pumps will help the buttocks and breasts project , therefore insuring more suitors and perhaps more progeny.
Here's another example:

Adaptation: A perfectly reasonable and well documented process by which species 'adapt' to changes in environment. Think 'superbugs'.

Microevolution: Darwinist synonym for adaptation.
Macroevolution: Well, of course, if there's a micro, there must be a macro. . .

@panzade,
I guess it would depend if I believed in astrology--which I don't.

The Bible is a nice story--but it is for people who are mentally lazy and believe in astrology.

@neologist,
This post by me is not directly about evolution, but word slipping.

Disbelief is a tricky word. Sounds immediately like opposition.
I saw it somewhere else today re theism, no link, I read too fast, will post it as an example if I run across that article.

As has been argued here by many over many years now - why do people never go see old threads? (maybe the early ones were never back tagged, but there were years of good threads) - not believing does not mean you believe there is no god or gods. It is an primarily an absence.

It can (what do they call them, hard atheists?); it also can signify the person knows about religion but has no very personal interest, not even hostility.. except to follow what is going on in the world.

When I left religion, it took me a while to traverse all that.

But back to evolution - I was raised as a very pious catholic. I was taught about evolution. It made sense to me. Back then, I believed in Aquinas's first cause.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I have talked with people who were previously atheist and then went to religion or buddhism or was it yoga?

The Marquis de Sade took that line for a short time. It's a transitio0n stage in growing up.

And that's a toned down version. Heavily censored as one might expect as it has been posted by a member of the lower-middle-class attempting to be daring.

That the Bible is beyond your comprehension competence, rap, is an insufficient reason to make critical remarks about it.

@ossobuco,
Actually I do too, and I know people who grew up in atheist homes and later found religion. I just didn't think I had to answer Jimmy's silly question since neither my personal experience nor his is proof of the sort of very large assertion he put forth.

@spendius,
What a wonderful post, spend!

I have no rebuttal other than that I really don't care much for societal norms or values as much as I care about the truth that the evidence points toward (it comes with the territory of wanting to be a scientist).

@neologist,
"Macroevolution" and "Microevolution" were both terms coined by creationists who wanted to keep certain areas of evolution out of class rooms by claiming that there's no "evidence" for macroevolution (though there is). Macroevolution is effectively microevolution over a longer period of time.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I didn't assert anything. I simply said I don't know any christians who came from an atheist household.

Don't be silly.

Well, that's new one on me.The first time I saw the term 'microevolution', it was in a Discover article. Microevolution is a given. Adaptation to the point of a new species is another matter.

I'm glad you want to be a scientist, Jimmy.

The terms have been embedded in modern science DUE to their origins having such a profound impact on what is being taught to students.

If you're questioning whether or not "macroevolution" occurs, look it up for yourself. I don't feel like rewarding your laziness by posting it here for you (though if you insist, I will).
