Why do people deny evolution?

Quote:
Do these big changes (macroevolution) really happen? Evolutionists tell us we cannot see evolution taking place because it happens too slowly. A human generation takes about 20 years from birth to parenthood. They say it took tens of thousands of generations to form man from a common ancestor with the ape, from populations of only hundreds or thousands. We do not have these problems with bacteria. A new generation of bacteria grows in as short as 12 minutes or up to 24 hours or more, depending on the type of bacteria and the environment, but typically 20 minutes to a few hours. There are more bacteria in the world than there are grains of sand on all of the beaches of the world (and many grains of sand are covered with bacteria). They exist in just about any environment: hot, cold, dry, wet, high pressure, low pressure, small groups, large colonies, isolated, much food, little food, much oxygen, no oxygen, in toxic chemicals, etc. There is much variation in bacteria. There are many mutations (in fact, evolutionists say that smaller organisms have a faster mutation rate than larger ones16). But they never turn into anything new. They always remain bacteria. Fruit flies are much more complex than already complex single-cell bacteria. Scientists like to study them because a generation (from egg to adult) takes only 9 days. In the lab, fruit flies are studied under every conceivable condition. There is much variation in fruit flies. There are many mutations. But they never turn into anything new. They always remain fruit flies. Many years of study of countless generations of bacteria and fruit flies all over the world shows that evolution is not happening today.

Can it be more clear??? what do the evolution-fundamentalist have to say about this? apart from ah's?

Quahog is not sufficiently honest to name his source or to provide h is link.

A literal word search finds this passage at several Christian anti-evolution web sites, and one attributes it to one Jeffery Allen McCurdy, posting a comment on the Bill Nye/Ken Ham debate. So Quahog's "expert" source is some yob posting at Facebook.

well, it is not about being dishonest, I indeed forgot the link, sorry.

here it is:
http://www.newgeology.us/presentation32.html

Now, can you adress the content please?
Is it wrong what is stated? why?

if you don't like this info you can't dismiss only the source, that is very lazy and intellectual dishonest. Arguments against it please.

You are saying nothing. What sentence exactly and why? And what exactly does get worse and why? Or can't you be more concrete?

And how about this?:

Quote:
A SCIENTIFIC DISSENT FROM DARWINISM

We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

You can't back up the previous quote, so you run off for another claim? Is th is some kind of bait and switch, Mr. Intellectual Honesty?

Sources do matter. Your source for your latest spew of online diarrhea is "Discovery-dot-org."

Discovery-dot-org's About Us link wrote:
Mission:

The mission of Discovery Institute is to advance a culture of purpose, creativity and innovation.

Program:

Discovery Institute is an inter-disciplinary community of scholars and policy advocates dedicated to the reinvigoration of traditional Western principles and institutions and the worldview from which they issued. Discovery Institute has a special concern for the role that science and technology play in our culture and how they can advance free markets, illuminate public policy and support the theistic foundations of the West.

Philosophy:

Mind, not matter, is the source and crown of creation, the wellspring of human achievement. Conceived by the ancient Hebrews, Greeks and Christians, and elaborated in the American Founding, Western culture has encouraged creativity, enabled discovery and upheld the uniqueness and dignity of human beings.

Linking religious, political, and economic liberty, the Judeo-Christian culture has established the rule of law, codified respect for human rights and conceived constitutional democracy. It has engendered development of science and technology, as well as economic creativity and innovation.

In contrast, the contemporary materialistic worldview denies the intrinsic dignity and freedom of human beings and enfeebles scientific creativity and technological innovation. Its vision of a closing circle of human possibilities on a planet of limited horizons summons instead the deadening ideologies of scarcity, conflict, mutual suspicion and despair.

Yeah . . . right . . . tell us again that you don't have a religious bone in your body, Mr. Intellectual Honesty.

@Setanta,
dishonest? why?
I have indeed no religious bone and you can easily see that if you have read my postings. Hence you haven't.

The part I quote I fully agree upon. Other parts I disagree with and I haven't quoted these!!!

and still no rational counter argument. What else is new?

and how about the long list of scientist against or very skeptical about evolution? How about that?

pfff again. I used information I agree upon and has strong arguments.
You haven't refuted these arguments.
That I got information from a site isn't that important because we are talking about arguments and contents here.

But I understand you have a very deep need to think that I have 'religious bones" well, I really have not, read my postings about religion, they are very anti-religious.
And again, that isn't the issue.

you are not a guerilla sceptic now. are you? Wink
