When Is The Right Time to Get Paranoid ?

In the past, it has been the province of the mentally ill
to express fears of the government reading their minds; paranoia,
but I find it alarming to to see "Futurescape" TV on the Science Channel,
tell us of computers now being built that will be able to read our minds
and to speak of our thoughts being deposited in the cloud.
This show purports to be a near-term science show, non-fiction,
tho somewhat speculative well founded in established fact.

That program goes on in that vein(i.e., computers readings citizens' minds)
without a word about curtailing government.
Obviously, if in the future that were possible, government woud
take over those computers (which it is funding now anyway)
and then have a point of entry into our minds -- heretofore our own sovereign territory.
Government has not intruded into our minds yet because IT CANNOT
When it can, it will.
If it has the ability to know what we think,
government will legislate what we can legally think.

We will become the Borg.

I 'm glad that I have no children for whom to fear; no grandchildren.
I found comfort in the knowledge of human death,
with the natural molting off of the human body,
but thay show new chemicals which effectively restore youth to rats.

I 'm gonna begin a new thread about this
and when we need to become defensively paranoid.

I believe you. I'm not sure that makes me paranoid.

I;d say you probably have more to fear from General Motors rather than the government (Q:"Dear, why are there four new Cadillacs sitting in our driveway?" A: "I can't remember exactly why, but it seemed like a really good idea at the time, so I bought them")

@MontereyJack,
The possibilities are endless, aren't they Jack?

I dunno. Reading thoughts is not the same as changing them, and I'm not sure which will take longer. Disregarding more or less conventional advertising, of course.

I still take comfort in the protection of natural human death
(even tho thay showed a chemical that thay have administered
to mice or rats that restored their respective youths) from becoming the Borg.

That 'd be a very serious and very permanent development, if it happened.
According to the Science Channel, those computers are being built now. Its scary
and thay said NOT ONE WORD qua bringing government to heel.

Ike and Patton will not come running to the rescue next time.

I 'm too old, to get involved, but the youth needs to defend itself.
What the Science Channel is telling us about is a lot worse
than Orwell in "1984". No one seems to care.

Government 'd re-define un-lawful "pornografy" to its liking (not necessarily sexual).
I know a very pleasant fellow who was sentenced to 6O years in prison
(or was only 5O years??) for porn. Wud Hawkeye be hurled into a dungeon for THINKING about rape??
How many years for having anti-obama thawts?? to delay his programs??

IF your children become the Borg,
then HOW do thay get un-Borged????????????????? Who will save them?????

I don t think that anyone CARES about this.

If they get built...they will be used.

There is no way to stop that.

And if not the government...someone in the private sector will use them. (More than likely, they will be the entity that develops these kinds of things rather than the "government" anyway.)

And as I have mentioned often...WE are the government. At least for now.

@Frank Apisa,
The government does a lot of things
that WE don 't even KNOW about,
let alone decide.

The Science Channel presented that show in a happy, up-beat mood,
not a political word in it.

Credit and admiration to The Science Channel
for getting that information out there in public
.
Hopefully, young people will fight back,
electing Congressmen who will be obstructionistic.
