Can the phrase "of course" be used in this context?

P1: How did things go last night?
P2: Things went of course.
(Alt: Things went of route.")

Can that be used synonymously with "things went accordingly"?

@Schienen,
Not really. You might say "Things were on course.", but even that would sound a little odd in that context.

@Schienen,
No Sch, Rog is right of course. But context allowing you might say "Things went well of course"

@Schienen,
No.

Try "Things went according to plan".
"Things went as expected"

As I just wanted to say you should write "Things went well of course," I found Dale has taken the word out of my mouth.
