Use of Commas in Removable Sentence Section With Apostrophes

Reply Tue 12 Nov, 2013 12:34 am
I was randomly chatting with a friend when I said something that made me stop and think, as I had never come across this particular scenario before:

Example Sentence: "I have to go downtown to where my home's contractors, Homes4You's main offices are located."

Do I use a comma after the apostrophe and S, even though it breaks apart the noun from what it is possessing?

It's a very awkward sentence, but I think it should be:

I have to go downtown to where my home contractor's, Homes4You, main offices are located."

@UlithiumDragon,
We don't use commas when we are randomly chatting, UD.

Prescriptivist would be "Don't use ... . // You mustn't/shouldn't use ... .

Had you spoken your reply above to me, Infra, would you have said,

How prescriptivist of you period

or

How prescriptivist of you exclamation mark

@PUNKEY,
Quote:

Punk this still seems a bit awkward. Try

I have to go downtown where the offices my home contractor, Homes4You, are located
