What should you do when you want to use information from a site without an author?
For instance, say I want to use a quote from this site:
<http://www.mit.edu/afs/athena/project/oxq/vaxsrc/oxq/07.2>
Suppose this is my essay:
Petrarch writes that we should trample beneath our feet appetites which spring from earthly impulses. In his sermon entitled "De Ascencione," St. Augustine makes a similar statement: "We make a ladder for ourselves of our vices, if we trample those same vices underfoot" (http://www.mit.edu/afs/athena/project/oxq/vaxsrc/oxq/07.2).
That's my problem! Am I really supposed to include the entire URL in parentheses? There is no author so I can't list a name. I've thought about shortening it to (www.mit.edu), but that doesn't seem right. I could probably find other sites with the same information and an author, but since I've encountered this problem several other times before, I'd appreciate somebody telling me what I should do.
Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you, JD. That problem was bothering me for quite some time.
