I often wonder if I over use "that". Here's an example:
Frank called me thinking that I had called him.
I see that he called you last night too.
Would this also be correct?:
Frank called me thinking I had called him.
I see he called you last night too.
Is there a rule for using "that"?
Thanks - JD
@theMightyjD,
Generally jD you don't need it. However I might use a comma after "me"
@dalehileman,
That's a very good point, Dale
@neologist,
Why thank you Neo, I needed a little boost today
@dalehileman,
That always makes my day, when I can post something that gives you a boost.
@neologist,
At 82 Neo with only 4-1/2 years to go, it makes a difference
@dalehileman,
May we pop a cool one on my 100th birthday. You would be 111
@neologist,
May we indeed Neo. Let it be a lager
The first anyhow
@theMightyjD,
No, you don't overuse 'that', TMJD. Both are completely natural uses.
