@Roberta,

One of the most sinister things I can think of from a movie was not a character. It was a sound--music. The shark music from Jaws.

Made my blood run cold. Swim! Don't look back.

Music from the movie with pics of real sharks, not Bruce:

Thank you, John Williams.

Roberta, it took me ten years to build up the nerve to watch "Jaws". The idea of a shark big enough to sink a boat scares the bejesus out of me. I know it's irrational since my fav places to vacation are the Ocean or Gulf of Mexico. I favor the Gulf because the water is so much more clear.

Have we left out Boris Karloff? I can't remember the movie title, but he played a grave robber.

The really terrifying part of Benchley's book and movie was the effect it had on people's perception of the Great White. Ocean [forget her last name] has illustrated for us, once again, that the only cold blooded killers that exist on the planet are us.

Thanks to the last poster for repeating his "America sucks" shtick. Thank God for you, because you are the self anointed speaker of truth and that frees the rest of us to plan ways to completely dominate small islands in the Gulf of Mexico. Lets give JTT a rousing cheer for all he has accomplished.

@vonny,
I almost forgot about this movies, a few years back Kevin Costner and William Hurt played an unusual type of serial killer. Costner played a successful businessman who occasionally liked to hunt and kill people. William Hurt was his imaginary friend who would appear and temp him out for another hunt/kill. There were twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat, and only Costner and the audience could see his imaginary coach. Dialogue between Costner and Hurt is very cleverly done, they seem to like each other. The title of the movie was "Mr. Brooks", I'm sure it's available in DVD so if you get a chance, check it out.

Too bad you were not available to advise Hitchcock. I hate to see a frenzied, rage driven, demented killer overplayed by an actor. Hang on, you didn't mean Janet Leigh, did you?

@glitterbag,
Psycho scared me stiff! It took me a very long time to feel happy about drawing the shower curtain - or even having a shower. Felt a lot safer in the bath!
