Gift to the sick

in our culture, we have this tradition of going to the sick and give them money or help ..whatever the sick person needs..
we usually give some money..so that it will help the family of the sick ones in time of need..like for buying medicines etc..

what will that be in English??
is there an expression for that??

In Hebrew, it's called 'mitzvah' which translates to English as 'good deed'. 'Charity' is probably the closest general English term though.

It's called "Medicaid," and you have to surrender all of your worldly goods before you qualify for it . . .

Besides:

alms, almsgiving, almsdeed; beneficence; philanthropy;
eleemosynary corporation. Very Happy

All these might work (but almsdeed perhaps is too old).
