Nowadays the usual preposition of ISLAND is ON. But how about a change of phraseology while still referring to the same thing?
-Chairman Xi met with senior officials on/in the carribean island nation of Trinidad
-We decided to have a picnic on Taulan Island. We met on/in South Taulan. We travelled in/on the southern part of Taulan.
Which preposition should I use?
