@DoctorGotz,
I know about the prairies. I lived a year in Yuma (Colorado) and you can't get much prairie flat than Yuma.
I also lived three years in Golden where I rode my bicycle up and down Lookout Mountain at least weekly. I've also lived in West 'by Gawd' Virginia (10 years), and a couple of years in the Smokies (Tennessee/ N Carolina) .
In the fall, when the hardwood colors are maxed and the Gauley is up, West 'by Gawd' Virginia has the most beautiful mountains and some of the best whitewater in America if not the world--Colorado and the Colorado River not withstanding.
The same can be said of the Smokies when the rhododendron covered mountains are in bloom.
Granted skiing on a winter full moon in Loveland is something that can't be experienced anywhere but Colorado, but all states that I've been to have their points of beauty (and ugliness--Yuma).
BTW there is no flatland in West 'by Gawd' Virginia, that's why if it were flat 'it's > Texas.'
