Anne is an only child, born into an unhappy family. Her mother is a rageoholic, and has borderline personality disorder. Her father suffers from depression and ADHD. Throughout her childhood, Anne was abused by her mother - physically, emotionally, and verbally. She was diagnosed with depression and put on antidepressants when she was ten years old. When she was 14, she suffered an emotional trauma. Three years later, she has still not recovered from the trauma, and her depression has come back, worse than ever. She lies in bed most of the day, sleeping up to 22 hours at a time. She hardly ever eats, and starts losing weight. When a friend suggests she get help, she says she can't be helped. She says she can't talk to a shrink as "it hurts too much," and says the meds no longer work.
How can Anne be helped?
